A journey as a doctoral student between 2017 and 2020. I keep these posts because, looking back from my early days, I can see how much my perspectives have shifted as a reminder of the learning journey.

    I have been working on several tasks, editing my research protocol, writing literature reviews on two main themes, and preparing ethics forms.     For the past few days, I have been talking to my family. They said how beautiful Japan’s cherry blossoms are this year. I am badly missing my family, partly because we are on an Easter break so most of the students are back home, and partly because of the stagnant situation of my research. The read more

  • Weeks 13 and 14

    Since the spring semester ended, I have had a nice and easy time spent in a relaxed mood. I can finally work full time on my research for the next couple of weeks. I also went for coffee with my colleagues a couple of times, which made me very happy because I now have people read more

    The clock has changed to summertime. Week 12 became a very important point in the first year of my research in all respects. I did my first stab at writing a draft and sent it to my supervisors.     Week 11 was very busy, attending seminars and writing. Usually, allocating training and my teaching is put in my schedule first, and then I add my research tasks into the space between them. I would like to have a rest between each task, though every minute is so precious when I am rushing to meet read more

    On Tuesday night, we went to a musical theatre to see Mamma Mia! Then, we enjoyed a sushi dinner, which was a lovely, relaxing time. I worked on writing summaries of my reading and attended two training seminars. Lots of reading materials are coming up non-stop. My EndNote skills are not yet good enough to read more
