Weeks 167 and 168: Teaching online and finalising Chapter 2

I cannot believe how quickly the global situation has been changing over the past two weeks. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic is likely to last for the long term. We are trying to not waste supplies, and apart from a minimum preparation, we don’t over-buy. From reading current reports on the situation in cities under lockdown, we are realising how truly valuable the residents’ voices are.

This week, I delivered online sessions to my students for the first time ever, using Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The university recommends Teams, and all teaching staff will eventually need to be familiar with it. It’s not easy to move classroom teaching online, and I was really nervous about how to recreate the handouts and manage the session. The students joined the online meeting, and the first session went well.

I’ve finalised Chapter 2, the literature review chapter, by adding some references and updating figures.

Next week, I will be editing Chapter 3, another literature review chapter. I wrote the chapter draft three years ago, and it needs extensive revision. Reading papers feels more exciting now. I am trying to keep my reviews as up to date as possible.
