Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is the most Japanese-style hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s beautifully organised and decorated.
Since opening in October 2016, it has earned a great reputation in Kyoto. I truly loved the details for the outside, with the wooden main entrance and the Japanese garden. I couldn’t take a photo of the main entrance, but I took some of the gardens, as my room faced it.

In general, the quality of Four Seasons hotels is highly consistent. This hotel in Kyoto was outstanding for me because it has an excellent collection of Japanese art within the hotel and authentic beauty in its accommodation, furniture, garden, facilities, food and service. They gave us a room upgrade, a champagne welcome, and Japanese sweets and strawberries.

Sushi Wakon
I couldn’t take any photos, but we really enjoyed dinner at the hotel’s Sushi Wakon, a one-Michelin-starred restaurant. The conversation with the chef was very enjoyable, and I strongly recommend this restaurant.
We booked a timeslot from 5:30 to 8 pm (the first seating is 5:30 to 8 pm, and the second seating is 8:30 to 10:30 pm). After dinner, we moved to a tea room in the garden to chill out, then went to the indoor pool for more relaxation.
Pool
The pool was my favourite part. I borrowed a swimsuit and a pair of goggles, swam for an hour, and then lay down until around 9:30 pm. The pool is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

Overall, I was more than satisfied with this stay and would love to return.
It would be fantastic for a wedding and honeymoon, as well. My family loved Sushi Wakon, which I’ve already recommended to many people.

Looks stunning, but wow that’s way out of my price range for now. Hopefully one day I can afford to go there, I still haven’t visited Kyoto
I’ve had a few people recommend it to me but never had the time/money to go while I’ve been in Japan! I’m heading back at the end of March (not sure where exactly, it’s part of a university collaboration) so maybe this time I’ll be able to go! :)
